SPIRIT NYS is Delivering Outstanding Results In Rochester, NY

Changing the Lives of Homeless and Parentally Insecure Teens

SPIRIT NYS launched in September 2021 at Franklin Upper with 22 students. In 2022 and 2023, we extended operations to three other schools: Edison Tech, Northeast, and Vertus. The 2022-2023 school year enrollment included 16 students at Franklin, 9 at Edison Tech, 11 at Northeast, and 10 at Vertus. Our primary mission is to enable homeless teens to remain in school through graduation. We can report continuing success.

The Environment is Challenging

Our success is substantial as we change the trajectory of teen’s lives and reduce poverty. Without help, 60% or more of youth experiencing homelessness will drop out of high school. Every teen has their own unique set of challenges that have been exacerbated by inflation this year. Rising costs disproportionately hurt low-income people. We are proud of our students for increasing their focus on education and bettering themselves while overcoming tough situations.

Increased donations will positively impact more teens experiencing homelessness and boost our results for years to come.
